Data Apprentice

Working as part of Ovum’s Forecasting and Data analysis team, you will primarily be focused on improving the quality of data and forecasts which we deliver to our customers. The position will touch on all aspects of data management from collection and integration through to analytics and visualisation. The role will involve working with data from different sources and systems to build reports and perform detailed analysis for Ovum’s internal and external clients. 

Key Responsibilities
  • Support, maintain and develop data auditing systems and processes. 
  • Identify, collect and migrate data to/from a range of internal and external systems 
  • Manipulate and link different data sets as required 
  • Perform routine statistical analyses in Microsoft Excel and other tools 
  • Assist production of performance dashboards and reports  
  • Assist with data quality checking and cleansing  
  • Apply the tools and techniques for data analysis, data visualisation and presentation  
  • Assist with the production of a range of ad-hoc and standard data analysis reports  
  • Summarise and present the results of data analysis to a range of stakeholders 
  • Work closely with the customer success team to assist in providing answers to enquiries and data requests. 
  • Gain knowledge of the TMT industry as it relates to the data sets held within Ovum’s data tools 
  • Work with Tableau, Alteryx, and Jira to varying degrees in addition to Microsoft Excel. 
Skills and Experience
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Excel 
  • Proactive with excellent problem-solving skills to assure timely delivery of key tasks 
  • Logical and creative thinking skills  
  • Ability to work independently and to take responsibility  
  • Ability to work with a range of internal and external people  
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a variety of situations and to a diverse range of internal stakeholders 
  • Experience with statistical software packages such as E-views, R, Python, Alteryx or similar applications is a plus 
  • Knowledge of telecoms, media and technology industry a plus  
Qualifications
  • A Level in IT, Computing, engineering, business studies, economics, statistics, maths or similar would be preferred

The details

Salary: £15,000 / annually

Hours: 37.5 hrs, Monday to Friday 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
