Arch has over four years of experience in delivering IT apprenticeships, working with the likes of Capgemini, Pets at Home, Agilisys and more. Our current portfolio offers a pathway from entry-level IT support through to specialisms like software development or network engineering.
What is an IT Apprenticeship?
IT apprenticeships are centred around learning how digital and technological systems work. From software testing to network engineering, with plenty in between, IT apprenticeships explore the whole spectrum of technology.
What are the different types of Information Technology Apprenticeships?
There are four pathways IT apprentices can take. While there will be crossover within each programme, each IT apprenticeship offers you the chance to specialise in the area you like the most. Check out our list below for the different types of apprenticeship:
Infrastructure Technician Apprenticeship
In this IT apprenticeship, you’ll be on the frontline of the company you work for. Developing your knowledge to an all-round level, you’ll learn the basics before starting to specialise. With this apprenticeship, you’ll gain qualifications in MTA Cloud Fundamentals, BCS Coding and Logic, as well as Mobility and Devices Fundamentals and BCS Business Processes. As a level 3 course, it’ll typically take 15 months.
Software Developer Apprenticeship
To enrol, you’ll need to have had some experience within IT, whether that’s through previous education or experience. As well as the MTA HTML5 Application Development Fundamentals qualification, you’ll study a L4 Diploma in Software Development Methodologies whilst developing your skills in the world of work.
Network Engineer Apprenticeship
This high-powered IT apprenticeship in network engineering is ready to take your career to the next level. Develop real-world skills in problem-solving and analysis while studying towards an accredited level 4 qualification. Expand your knowledge on security threats, load balancing, hardware and network infrastructure.
Software Tester Apprenticeship
While similar sounding to Software Development, software testing is more about quality control than actual production or system design. A Level 4 IT Apprenticeship in Software Testing will expand upon your knowledge taking you through the software life cycle and a whole host of testing techniques. Once complete, you’ll have a qualification accredited by the International Software Testing Qualifications Board (IQSTB) and will be able to take your career to the next level.
What will I study on IT apprenticeships?
This all depends on what level you study and what pathway you take. Our level 3 IT apprenticeships provide a grounding in the subject before challenging you to more complex theories and practice. Level 4 IT apprenticeships are for those with some experience or previous education and will deep-dive into industry-standard practices and theories. Whichever you choose, you’ll develop your skills under the watchful eye of experts both from AVADO and in your place of work.

What careers can I achieve after completing an IT apprenticeship?
There’s no stopping where an IT apprenticeship can take you. By involving both accredited learning and real-world experience, apprentices are set for life. Upon completing a Level 3 apprenticeship, you’ll likely be able to gain entry positions in IT firms and departments. Level 4 IT apprenticeships push you that little further and therefore means you can expect a job with more responsibility.
