She has been at the forefront of generating new ideas on reshaping our economy inside government and out, and prior to joining NEF she was the director of policy and research at the Institute of Public Policy Research.

In this fireside chat, we'll be discussing:

Why businesses can’t be successful if they aren’t thinking about and investing in both their employees and capabilities
How every industry faces its own capabilities challenges and therefore there’s no one-size-fits-all solution
Why taking a long term approach to learning and development is more sustainable and profitable than short term fixes
How productivity, staff retention and mental health are affected by a lack of capabilities

The skills gap and digital divide continue to impact the news agenda in the UK and abroad. Change isn’t happening at pace, and that shows businesses still don’t fully see the urgency, which the past year has only increased. If action isn’t taken soon, the whole economic recovery could be at risk.

At Avado, we feel the current conversation around skills is missing something fundamental about our working landscape, which is that most industries are more complex than ever before. The Beyond Skills research highlights that the skills gap has widened to something much more serious: a capability chasm.

Our report is broken out into five sectors: financial services, fast-moving consumer goods, tech and telco, government and public services, and pharmaceuticals. Join Miatta and Avado’s CEO, Mark Creighton, to discuss the key findings on our Beyond Skills report and why it’s relevant to your organisation.
