A 3-month internship, this is a great opportunity for an analytical, data-driven Graduate/Masters to work in the commercial team of a successful global FTSE 250 business. Responsible for diving into the data, creating reports and modelling tools, you’ll get detailed insight into the commercial levers of our business, be helping support strategic business decisions, learning a lot about this fascinating, fast-moving industry.

About the role

The Commercial Analyst Internship is a new opportunity for 3-months (initially) in our Food and Beverage Solutions Team, reporting to the Head of Category Development & Planning (Europe). You’ll be working closely with the Category Sales Directors and Category Development & Planning Managers across the region getting hands on in with data, building tools and models to provide commercial insights to support business decisions.

More specifically:

  • You’ll be working with category teams to get an understand the relevant sub-categories to a provide a representative view of our commercial sales for reporting purposes
  • You will then be able to develop models showing historical growth patterns, which in turn will help you develop more accurate opportunity sizing tools
  • Pulling data from different company sources (Nielsen Data, Global Data), you will be responsible for compiling a data-driven snapshot of our target categories to meet regular reporting needs.
  • You’ll be providing ongoing analysis as required, enabling our category teams in to use this data to inform business decisions – for example developing market sizing models (in Excel) to support decisions around customer targeting, portfolio focus, and broader strategic direction
  • You’ll have the opportunity to support the development of some of the category strategies – identifying and analysing relevant information, helping teams to think in a data-driven way – that could open the doors for T&L to explore new areas of business

Location

This role is based out of our Central London office, but please note that we are fully remote working until later this year (TBC). There may, however, be the opportunity to meet in a COVID-safe way with team members as required, and so access to Central London for an occasional meeting should be considered.

What you’ll need to have

  • You’ll probably be a Graduate from, or completed a Masters in, a highly numerate, business-related degree
  • Strong analytical and Excel modelling skills (pivot tables, lookups etc.) demonstrated through data analysis undertaken in previous work or studies
  • Previous work experience in finance/consulting/banking, probably gained post-graduation, or from a placement year during your studies, preferred
  • An organized and self-driven approach to your ways of working, able to prioritize accordingly as you’ll be working remotely from your manager and team
  • Effective communication skills – both verbal and written – and an ability to build relationships and credibility easily
  • To support our European colleagues, a fluency in English language is essential but additional European languages would be a plus
  • Enthusiastic and a positive approach, excited to work in a dynamic and changing environment
  • An interest in food/ingredients/nutrition will help understand what we do and what drives our organisation
