The Role

Our people team is a centralised team providing an extraordinary experience to our employees. This role will report directly into our HR Manager and will benefit from wider Group support coaching.

The role has responsibility across a multitude of tasks across the entire employee Lifecyle, from recruitment, training and development, payroll and reward. Some Typical day to day responsibilities will include:

  • Working with the talent team with 360 recruitment duties from screening CV’s, scheduling interviews and building candidate relationships.
  • Preparing all HR documents that need to be shared with individuals ie. confirmation of pay rises, promotions, lien managers changes etc.
  • Managing the administration of al employee files on our HR Information System (CharlieHR) across SMG and ensuring all employee information stored is accurate and up to date.
  • Conducting annual audits of the HRIS and employee files using audit checklist to ensure the business maintains its compliance.
  • Working closely with SMG University team to maintain the annual calendar of training events, ensuring this stays up to date and helping with the coordination and set up of training courses.
  • Maintaining the SMG Uni hub and manage the tracking of usage of the SMG Uni fund and booking any approved requests.
  • Supporting the HR Manager on processing the relevant employee dates for the monthly payroll, including administration of the new starters, leavers and benefit packages.


During the apprenticeship you will….
  • Study via Avado / Arch Apprentices and gain a HR Support Level 3 apprenticeship qualification and well as CIPD foundation certificate (Level 3)
  • Be on the apprenticeship programme for 16 months, with 80% on the job and 20% learning
  • Gain experience in HR talent, resourcing and / or people development


What we look for
  • Must have English and Maths grade C (4) or above (or equivalent), with a total of 5 GCSE’s (preferable)
  • Interest in the people experience
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical mindset
  • Personable with good communication skills
  • Determined and curious approach to work, with a willingness to get involved in a range of tasks
