The White Bear Group is an independent hub for underwriting expertise owned by its staff and professional investors.
We are looking for a HR Apprentice to support employees alongside the Head of HR and providing HR and Payroll administrative support to deliver HR activities, as well as general support across the organisation. This role also includes study support via apprenticeship training towards a HR CIPD qualification.

 

Key Tasks

  • Act as a point of contact for all employee queries.
  • Assist with recruitment including updating job descriptions, liaising with agencies, posting roles on LinkedIn, and providing feedback. Interviewing candidates with Hiring Manager’s in attendance, using competency-based recruitment.
  • Administration of the onboarding process including right to work checks, producing new contracts for new joiners, background screening and running HR inductions
  • Maintain standard employee information in the HR System (Cascade/Iris) and exporting ad hoc reports for Manager and other Senior staff members. Developing the back end of the HRIS to improve processes and employee experience
  • Maintain the Learning Management System (Insurance Assess), adding new starters, monitoring training records and creating new learning pathways for the HR area.
  • Provide benefit administration support as required and maintain childcare voucher scheme, Ride-to-Work scheme, season ticket loans. Support the administration of monthly Pension funding within the cut off dates.
  • Drafting all key HR documentation, such as offer letters, references of employment and documentation for internal staff moves and transfers.
  • Support the Head of HR to ensure the monthly payroll submission is delivered within cut of dates. Collate benefit information for annual P11D’s.
  • Support the Head of HR with the delivery of the annual performance management and review cycle.  Extracting training requirements from Annual Performance review, as well as ad hoc requirements.  Maintaining training records/subscriptions and memberships of professional bodies recording CPD hours and arranging courses and follow up actions.
  • Providing support for issues such as disciplinaries (e.g., taking minutes for attendance meetings, disciplinary hearings as and when required), performance development, grievance and appeals and absence management.
  • Oversight of holiday/sickness/ absence monitoring.
  • Keep up to date with latest employment legislation/regulatory issues.
  • Health & Safety administration.
  • Support the Head of HR with ad-hoc project work and produce ad hoc reports from the HR system.

Key technical skills, knowledge and professional qualifications required

  • Proven experience in HR administration or in an administrative based role and willingness to study towards MCIPD Qualifications via a HR CIPD apprenticeship
  • Commercially minded.
  • Analytical with MS office skills – including Excel and PowerPoint.

 

Risk and Compliance Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with company and other relevant standards and regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant PRA and FCA conduct rules
  • Responsibility for the proper performance of all regulatory roles held in the course of employment.
  • Responsibility for the proper performance of any FCA/PRA Prescribed Responsibilities assigned from time to time and contained within a Statement of Responsibilities.
  • Ensure compliance with assigned risk management responsibilities.
