IT Infrastructure Technician

At Hargreaves Lansdown, our Linux and UNIX based systems are the backbone of our mission critical client facing infrastructure. Due to the increasing demands we are now looking to increase the size of the team.

An average day within the Unix Support Team is both fast paced, diverse, and challenging where, as a Unix Support Apprentice,  you be given the opportunity to work closely with a variety of internal teams and third party suppliers to ensure that our systems are maintained and managed in line with best practice, resolve service affecting issues, implement changes to the systems, build new systems and environments, and provide technical guidance to other teams

The role is suited to an individual who is keen to learn and develop, and enjoys not only owning a problem, but working with other teams to resolve it. As well as providing day to day support during normal business hours, due to the nature of the role there will also be some out of hours work expected.

Key Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Helping to troubleshoot problems, working through the Unix 2nd line ticket queue, ensuring that incidents and requests across the Client facing estate are dealt with in a timely, consistent and professional manner
  • Work with other teams in the department to identify trends and root causes of faults.
  • Help implement changes in line with ITIL best practice
  • Help improve our process documentation for common tickets.
  • Actively engage in a culture of continuous improvement, implementing service efficiencies where possible.

Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday,

shift patterns 7.30am – 4.00pm, 8.30am – 5.00pm and 9.30am – 6.00pm

Salary: Salary increase by £500 every 6 months
