What will I need to start?

This is a course for beginners, so you don’t need any formal qualifications to get started. 

You’ll need: 

  • An interest in progressing in the HR field and experience working in an HR role is beneficial. 
  • A qualification to at least Level 2 (for example GCSE or international equivalent) is essential 
  • You must be over the age of 18 or have a third-party payee for any financial agreement 
  • A solid grasp of the English language (IELTS 6.5 or equivalent if English is not your first language) 
  • Basic computer skills and access to a phone/tablet/laptop with internet

What career options does the CIPD Level 3 Diploma open up? 

The skills you’ll learn on this course will get you ready to take on Human Resources roles with more responsibility. 

You’ll also be eligible for Associate Membership of the CIPD

Once you have your Level 3 qualification you can progress further with the CIPD Level 5 Intermediate Certificate in HR Management, the CIPD Level 5 Intermediate Diploma in HR Management, or the CIPD Level 5 Intermediate qualifications in L&D

Here are the 8 units you’ll cover, and what you’ll be able to do by the end of each one:

Unit 1: Understanding organisations and the role of HR

Review the purpose of an organisation and its operating environment. With a look at the structure, culture and functions of the organisation followed by how HR/L&D activities be supportive pillars.

Unit 2: Developing yourself as an effective HR practitioner.

Develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to be an effective HR or L&D practitioner. How to deliver timely and effective HR services to meet users’ needs. And finally planning for personal development.

Unit 3: Resourcing talent

Review the factors that affect an organisation’s talent planning, recruitment and selection policy. Identify appropriate recruitment and selection methods. And understanding the importance of effective induction.

Unit 4: Recording, analysing and using Human Resources information

Understand what data needs to be collected to support HR practices. And know how HR data should be recorded and stored. Finally analyse HR information and present findings to inform decision-making.

Unit 5: Supporting good practice in performance and reward management

Understand the link between organisational success, performance management and motivation. Explain the relationship between performance management and reward. How to contribute to effective performance and reward management in the workplace. Finally conduct and reflect upon a performance review.

Unit 6: Supporting good practice in Managing Employment Relations

Understand the impact of employment law at the start of the employment relationship. Learn individual rights that the employee has during the employment relationship. Review issues to address at the termination of the employment relationship.

Unit 7: Delivering Learning and Development Activities

Learn how to prepare a learning and development activity for delivery. Understand how to create a positive learning environment. Develop a range of techniques, method and resources to deliver an inclusive learning & development activity for a group of learners, which meets identified objectives.

Unit 8: Supporting Change within Organisations

Understand why organisations need to change and how change affects organisations. Learn key factors involved in the change process and different approaches to managing change. Review the impact of change on employees and the role of HR.

How will I be assessed?

Each unit will take around 4-6 weeks to complete. At the end of each unit you will need to submit an assessment online which will be marked by your tutor. Each assessment will be tailored to the content of the unit.
