ACCA update – a new paper and a new tutor!

It’s an exciting time to be an ACCA student at AVADO as we recently not only started our first cohort of students on the F7 paper but also welcomed a brand-new tutor, Cat Hill, into our ranks!

Skills paper F7 Financial Reporting builds on the earlier Knowledge paper F3 Financial Accounting. We’ve gone all out in developing this paper to be the best yet, so we’ve introduced a new feature: “The Investor”!

In this role-playing exercise students will be tasked to analyse financial records and advise a shrewd investor about where he should put his money. Not only this, but we’ve also prepared one of our most in-depth case studies ever for students to immerse themselves in. Learners will follow a successful events company, ‘Festivo’, who are rapidly expanding and therefore need to deal with international trade, financing assets through equity and debt, dealing with intangible assets (i.e. copyright) and creating contingencies. Eventually, students will be asked to analyse the expansion itself. The best way to learn is by putting skills into practice in real-life scenarios, so Festivo should prove an excellent opportunity for students to experience what they’ve learned in action.

We’re also delighted to have Cat Hill join us as a new ACCA tutor. Having originally trained as a Chartered Accountant in Surrey, Cat discovered her love of teaching early in her career through training the juniors in her team. She moved into teaching full time, nearly 10 years ago, and has never looked back. Cat has taught Financial Reporting, Taxation, Law and Business Strategy for five major accountancy qualifications, both in the classroom and online, and having previously worked with other tutors on the AVADO team, she is delighted to be joining them. With all these exciting developments there really has never been a better time to study ACCA with AVADO!
