Trainer Interview – Raymond de Villiers

A Black Swan event is said to have happened when it meets three criteria:

  1. It lies outside the realm of regular expectations, and nothing in the past can convincingly point to its possibility
  2. It carries an extreme ‘impact’
  3. In spite of its outlier status, human nature makes us concoct explanations for its occurrence after the fact – as if it could have been predicted

The Covid-19 pandemic, an event that has changed the world forever, is a perfect example of this. As many countries went into lockdown, many businesses struggled to employ short-term survival and coping strategies. Now more than ever, they turned to digital platforms and tools to enable sustained business activity.

As countries around the world begin to open up again, business leaders need to do a review of their digital transformation roadmaps, with a greater appreciation of ‘the new normal’. There are some elements that need to be discarded, some redesigned, and others yet that need to be built from scratch.

In this interview, we spoke with Raymond de Villiers, who has conducted several training sessions for Avado’s clients, to get his views on Digital Transformation. Ray is an international speaker and consultant who has presented to an impressive list of local and global organisations to help them understand the challenges and opportunities inherent in the New World of Work.

He is particularly effective at joining the dots that many of us don’t see to draw a picture that helps his clients make sense of the world around them. Using stories and well researched content, he’ll take you on a journey toward relevance in a world that is nothing like your past, and increasingly less like your present.

Avado is a professional academy that helps people and businesses through interactive learning experiences in data, marketing, people and digital transformation.
