In July, I was lucky enough to meet Joan Kago – one of our CIPD L&D Level 5 graduates. Joan had travelled all the way from Kenya to London, to deliver her presentation as a People Management Award nominee for the ‘Michael Kelly Outstanding Student Award 2018’.    Professionally, Joan has supported drastic changes in the way her company, Base Titanium, works with the local community and, nationally, she’s developed a project which can be replicated to improve employability and recruitment in Kenya.  

Did you know that 1 in 10 UK Managers have been forced to take sick leave due to stress? Research by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI)* found that many managers are becoming chronically overworked and stressed by continuing to work after-hours. 

This week I caught up with Sarah McCallum, one of our CIPD HR Level 5 graduates who worked in the RAF. Melissa Venner was recently chosen as CIPD’s People Management Awards Outstanding Student of the Year 2017, thanks to the incredible results she achieved in her organisation by putting into practice what she learned on her online CIPD L&D qualification with AVADO. We caught up with her to find out the full story.

CIPD and AVADO are delighted to congratulate our L&D graduate, Melissa Venner, who was awarded the Michael Kelly Outstanding Student Award 2017 by the judges of the People Management Awards and described as an “outstanding ambassador for people development.”

A lot of our students tell us they decided to start studying an online qualification in order to switch careers, and Giulianna Boscardin is a great example. Looking to move from L&D into HR, she needed a course that would prepare her for the change without interfering with her home and professional commitments.
